XX International Judo Tournament “Villa de Avilés”

Campeonato del mundo de judo 2021 en Avilés

The international judo tournament “Villa de Avilés” returns to the city for its twentieth edition after last year’s interruption due to the pandemic. 

On October 30 and 31, the city puts on the judogi to welcome competitors from Spain, Italy, France and other countries.

The competition is mainly focused on grassroots judo with the participation of competitors up to SUB-21.

Competition categories

The competition is divided into the following categories:

  • U-21. Born between 2001 and 2006 male and female individual without minimum grade. 
  • U-18. Born between 2004 and 2006 male and female individual minimum grade blue, non scoring cups in 2021.. 
  • U-15. Born between 2007 and 2008 male and female individual minimum green grade, non scoring cups in 2021.. 
  • U-13. Born between 2009 and 2011 mixed teams without minimum grade (8 teams by invitation of the organization).

Competition calendar

The event schedule is as follows:

  • Friday, October 29
    • 16:00 to 19:00. Covid test and unofficial U-18 and U-21 weighing.
    • 19:00 to 21:30. Official weigh-in and accreditation U-18 and U-21 (only weigh-in day) and draws.
  • Saturday, October 30
    • 7:30. Opening of the pavilion.
    • 8:00. Start of warm-up.
    • At 9:00. Playoffs and repechages in cadet male and female categories.
    • At the end of the cadet competition will be held the competition U-21 category (approximate time 16:45).
    • 16:00 to 19:00. Covid test and unofficial U-15 weighing.
    • 19:00 a 21:00. Official U-15 weigh-in and draw.
    • 22:00 Dinner at the lodgings.
  • Sunday, October 31
    • 7:30. Opening of the pavilion
    • 8:00. Start of warm-up.
    • At 9:00. U-15 competition
    • At 11:00. U-13 team weigh-in in the auditorium
    • At the end of the U-15 competition, the Alevín competition will be held at approximately 14:30

How to get to Avilés

Located on the shores of the Cantabrian Sea, Aviles is the third most important city in Asturias. Easily accessible by car or train, it is the closest city to the airport of Asturias, which can be reached in less than half an hour.

Tournament venue

The tournament will be held at the Avilés Sports Complex. Polideportivo El Quirinal, Fuero de Avilés Street.
