On August 11 and 12, the Parque del Muelle de Avilés will once again vibrate with the best rock music on the national scene. Like the black music festival of La Grapa, the festival returns to the bandstand in El Muelle park, with performances by Ñu, Ana Curra and Carlos Varela, accompanied by some of the most important Asturian bands such as Madera Rock, Juaco Vil y Los Percances, Wolffather and Winchester.

WOLFFATHER
Wolffather formed in 2020, due to an idea from Mónica and Álex since Wolfmather were their favorite group. This is how this tribute band to the magnificent Australian band was created. It is made up of Álex Vega, Manuel Genaro “Jhony” and Miguel Vega, who were joined by Paula Lozano, who enchanted them with her great voice. Manuel “Jhony” was part of bands such as Malditos par excellence, Tokando Fondo, Tronko and Faraones. Miguel was also in Malditos par excellence, Tokando Fondo and Phacaval. All bands from Avilés. Álex and Paula are newcomers and this is their first group.

ANA CURRA
It is an honor in this new edition of La Mar de Ruido to have the presence of a historic woman of Spanish punk rock, Ana Curra, a fundamental member of Alaska and Los Pegamoides, from Paralisis Permanente, and other bands from the 80s such as Los Seres Vacíos. Ana Curra has intermittently continued her musical career, alternating it with her teaching work at the San Lorenzo del Escorial Conservatory of Music. Her live show leaves no one indifferent, Ana is projected onto the same stage with incredible energy supported by a forceful band where all her hits are exceptionally remembered.
ÑU
The veterans Ñu join the lineup of La Mar de Ruido, when they are about to celebrate 50 years of existence, with their leader, Jose Carlos Molina, since 1974, and with a recently released new album, “Yo soy vivo”. Wildebeest is a heavy metal band inspired by the music of British rock group Jethro Tull and its leader, Ian Anderson. It has one of the longest trajectories in its musical genre in Spain.

JUACO VIL Y LOS PERCANCES
Juaco Vil is a former guitarist for Ulan Bator and guitarist and singer for Ciudadano Vil. He published his first album in 2022 under the name “Asiento y ventanilla”. 13 rock n roll songs with airs of American folk rock and lyrics in Spanish. Produced by Juanjo Zamorano, it includes the participation of Kike Riestra, Fernando Marín, Ángel Ruiz and Jorge Otero, among others. After several solo concerts he puts together a band, and Los Percances, Javier Colero, Guillermo Quiroga and Dani Barrero appear. Musicians who give the songs a more powerful sound, but without losing the spirit of Juaco Vil’s songs.
CARLOS VARELA
Carlos Varela has made multiple tours inside and outside Cuba together with greats of the song such as Silvio Rodríguez, Pablo Milanés, Jackson Browne or Joshua Bell, among others. In 1995 he went on an extensive tour with Joaquín Sabina through various cities in Spain. That year he received the Ondas award for Latino Revelation Artist for his album “Como los peces.” Also that same year he composed “So young and so old” together with Sabina, a song that appears on Joaquín’s album, “Yo, mí, me, contigo”.
LARRY CAMPBELL & TERESA WILLIAMS
Larry and Teresa were already doing their first tour of Spain in 2019, in an acoustic format with tremendous success. They visited Bilbao, Pontevedra, Madrid, Hostalets de Balenyà (BCN), Zaragoza, León and Asturias. This time they come with their usual North American band in quartet format. For those who were lucky enough to see them live, they will know that Larry Campbell is an exceptional guitarist and singer, and Teresa Williams is no less. Larry has been a member of Bob Dylan’s band for a decade, and guitarist and director of Levon Helm’s band Levon’s Midnight Ramble”, as well as producer of artists such as Levon Helm himself, Sheryl Crown, Emmylou Harris or The Black Crowes. As a session and direct musician, he has accompanied, among others, Paul Simon, Cyndi Lauper, BB King, Judy Collins, Keith Richards, Joan Osborne, Leon Redbone or Phil Lesh.
On this tour they have been presenting their latest album, recorded live under the title “Live at Levon’s!”, recorded at the Levon Helm Studios in Woodstock, NY. This new record delivery by Larry and Teresa is an elevation to the altars of great blues, jazz, blues rock, bluegrass and soul classics, compositions and original numbers by Gary Davis, John Sebastian, Bill Monroe, Johnny Cash, Lester Flatt or Earl Scruggs. There is no shortage of his own co-authored creations such as “Angel of Darkness”, by Campbell himself together with Jorma Kaukonen. Larry displays his great mastery on guitar, violin and mandolin. And so he is reflected in Duke Ellington’s classic “Caravan”, where he demonstrates that mastery from swing, to rockbilly, zydeco and a touch of surf.
MADERA ROCK
Los avilesinos have returned to the stage almost 20 years later. Just a few months ago they did it in a venue in the city, selling all the tickets in just one week. When they left it, the La Mar de Ruido Festival was born, so there was nothing better than to coincide with these musical events in Avilés on the old stage of Parque del Muelle.
